Cryptic ruminations and a mini-update to boot
I feel like I'm sort of in a rut these days. A bit restless.
Maybe it's because some of my favorite people are far away.
Anyway, Amanda came up for Mother's Day to surprise Mommy, and a good time was had by all. Although Amanda sort of sickened. Is it only me or do you expect any sentence containing "so-and-so sickened" to end with "and died." But never fear, Amanda is still alive. She was just a bit under the weather. She flew back to San Diego yesterday, and today I actually thought to myself, "Wow, I miss Amanda." Sad. :(
My lovely little sis, Willow, also asked me to be her date for Spring Formal this year. I was happy to accept. Seeing all the girls again warmed the cockles of my heart. [What the hell are cockles anyway? They sound slightly suspect.] Now I'm usually more of a vodka person, but that night I had the best shot of tequila ever: Patron tequila. Whoa, baby, so smooth. After seeing my little and me down the shot, the bartender asked, "You've done this before, haven't you, ladies?" Perhaps. But never a tequila shot so tasty :D Many thanks to Des's date, Greg, for introducing that to us. Good times. I jacked a few pictures from some of the girls, and those will follow.
The weekend before was Theresa's belated birthday shindig. Yes, much alcohol was consumed and many drunken text messages were sent. Sadly, I don't really have any photos of that night yet. [Maybe I have one, but I was randomly sticking my tongue out so you don't need to see that kind of thing again.] Suffice to say that Theresa was definitely inebriated and acting out of character. At chicken & waffles after drinking, Theresa kept pantomiming a heart and calling people "my love." Gotta love alcohol.
And as many of my friends know by now, I've been cooking a lot: mini chocolate eclairs; shrimp pasta with asparagus, basil, and sundried tomatoes; crab cakes; cookies galore; the list goes on. I recently struck upon a theory as to why I developed this sudden passion. Since I moved home and my life is now quite devoid of random drama, I had to pick up a hobby. Somehow cooking filled this void in my life. I don't have the most appreciative family at home to cook for at times - my mom doesn't like cheese or "those weird herb tastes" and my little brother is simply a brat - but it's been fun. Maybe I'll start taking pictures of the food I cook and post them here. Can't save the results of my cooking any other way. Well, I suppose I could, but that would invite nasty things like green mold and disease.
Man, I should really start blogging more often. Otherwise it seems that you're subjected to extreme long-windedness. Sorry.
The turkey leg picture below makes me happy though. Haha. :)
