The nosy neighbor...

My mom works from home about three or four days a week now. It makes life easier for her since she doesn't have to commute to work most of the time. However, this makes life less satisfying for me, as I have to wake up earlier than I'd like or need. Because I'm lazy, yes. Hey, I just think of it as energy conservation.

Anyway, since she began sitting at her fancy new computer right by the window of our ground-floor office room, she has become the Nosy Little Neighborhood Lady. I kid you not. There's this convenient little shrub (actually, I think it's just a stunted tree) right by the window, so it's difficult for people outside to see through the window. This makes it the perfect lookout spot.

"Didn't that man walk by the house twice already?"

"What are those kids doing outside? They don't have helmets on!"

"Where is that car going? They don't look familiar..."

I think we need a cat. Or twelve.

Been privately tutoring more lately. It's not too bad of a gig. I like teaching, know random facts that can't be put to use anywhere else, and it's all ah...not quite taxed, if you know what I mean. Shh. Or I'll have to kill you. >:)

Some of the kids I teach don't really need much tutoring though. They're already in honors classes and involved in a bajillion different extracurriculars on the side. (Seriously, a bajillion.) It makes me feel a little guilty, like I should support affirmative action more or start tutoring some underprivileged children for free. But then again, if they didn't hire me to tutor their kids, they'd be hiring someone else. I'm so good with justifications. :)

And since I'm a tutor, the kids I teach are my tutees. You may think that sounds stupid, but it's really a word. So hah! Word Racer agrees, too.

"Fix You" -Coldplay

When you try your best but you don't succeed
When you get what you want but not what you need
When you feel so tired but you can't sleep
Stuck in reverse

And the tears come streaming down your face
When you lose something you can't replace
When you love someone but it goes to waste
Could it be worse?

Lights will guide you home
And ignite your bones
And I will try to fix you

And high up above or down below
When you're too in love to let it go
But if you never try you'll never know
Just what you're worth

Lights will guide you home
And ignite your bones
And I will try to fix you

Tears stream down your face
When you lose something you cannot replace
Tears stream down your face
And I...

Tears stream down your face
I promise you I will learn from my mistakes
Tears stream down your face
And I...

Lights will guide you home
And ignite your bones
And I will try to fix you.
