the talk on being queer and hapa was quite interesting. i never realized the eugenics movement was so pervasive and that anti-miscegenation laws were around for so long. obvious parallels with the gay marriage controversy these days. am personally all for gay marriage. the government cannot and does not have the right to "protect the sanctity of marriage." it's all couched in religious terms that are not applicable to everyone anyway. marriage should be a legal contract; an individual's reasons for marriage should be their own. gay marriages cannot result in procreation? plenty of marriages between a male and a female also do not result in procreation, whether by choice or circumstance. and don't get me started on bush and his proposal for lower income marriages. bush needs to stay away from marriage. bah.

anyway, yuri kochiyama tonight! i am seriously excited. like seriously. [god, i'm californian. need to stop with the "likes."]
beyond the margins: a week dedicated to women. once again, come. i'll love you forever and ever and ever...okay, maybe not. but for a really long time at least!

and this is pretty embarrassing, but i teared up at "you got served" and cried at "50 first dates." almost sobbed. it was just so touching! adam sandler makes drew barrymore fall in love with him again everyday! "wouldn't it be nice" by the beach boys utilized so well!
something is dreadfully wrong with me these days =P
[side note: the soundtrack to "50 first dates" is comprised of all 80s songs covered by contemporary bands. 311's cover of the cure's "love song" is surprisingly good!]

"Black Star" -Radiohead

i get home from work and you're still standing in your dressing gown
well, what am i to do?
i know all the things around your head and what they do to you
what are we coming to?
what are we gonna do?

blame it on the black star
blame it on the falling sky
blame it on the satellite that beams me home

the troubled words of a troubled mind i try to understand
what is eating you
i try to stay awake but it's 58 hours since that i last slept with you
what are we coming to?
i just don't know anymore

blame it on the black star
blame it on the falling sky
blame it on the satellite that beams me home

i get on the train and i just stand about now
that i don't think of you
i keep falling over, i keep passing out
when i see a face like you
what am i coming to?
i'm gonna melt down

blame it on the black star
blame it on the falling sky
blame it on the satellite that beams me home
