hello, children. how was everyone's labor day weekend?

mine wasn't spectacular, but it was chill fun. went to black pearl on alex's drinking night with jacq. he fixed us spiked blended boba drinks...balls froze in the drink insanely fast. am guessing was the result of alcohol somehow. i refuse to figure out exactly why because i refuse to think. alex told dirty jokes. ask me if you haven't heard the one about the little boy with the dead frog.

saw an A's game [yay, 5-2 win!] with chi and jacq. drunk guys in front gave us a bag of peanuts. er...thanks? baseball is fun at the stadium, but i swear, i can't sit through an entire game on TV. there are only so many camera angles and i just get bored. sorry.

went to a berkeley kdphi rush party with amanda, ginnie, elaine. am entirely too old to be sober at those things and still have fun, but it was great seeing people and "representing" [shut up, nigel]. so i didn't have a stupendously fun time. oh well. met a guy at the party wearing an A's jersey...and batting gloves because "they went with the outfit." unfortunately, that was the only interesting thing about him. highlight of the night was denny's, as usual. haha. i'm getting old...maybe i should just skip any attempt to party and go straight to the 2 am denny's.

ooh, i realized i haven't indulged in any klutzy-christina-moments in a long time, so now you get TWO in the same weekend:

scenario 1: i was walking toward the stairs at about 3 in the morning to go to bed in complete darkness (no hall light to wake up mumsies)...things were going well, no toes stubbed, no shin bruises from a misplaced step into a potted plant. alas, since everything was black, i could not see the glossy little catalog lying right at the foot of the stairs. that magazine was exactly as effective as a banana peel on loony tunes cartoons--whooosh, foot came out from under me and i was down on my ass. i started laughing my head off [trying to be quiet since it was 3:00 am], and amanda asked resignedly, "what did you do now?" it took over a minute to explain because i was laughing too much.
result: amanda eye-roll and fairly nasty rug-burn spot on my elbow. it hurt :( whenever anything reminds her of this, amanda starts cracking up. sigh. my sister has no respect for me.

scenario 2: i was up at berkeley on the patio of the lambda house as elaine was smoking her cigarette. she finally finished and i happily left batting-glove dude. i followed the girls toward the exit door. however, i sort of missed seeing the step down [hey, it was really dark!] and thump, i fell again.
result: everyone on the patio looked over and asked, "are you okay??" i think i heard a few snickers. nothing hurt but my pride. was hoping patio was dark enough so that no one saw my face. or my clothes. even though i had to walk out the wide-open doorway with light streaming in from the hallway.

"The Horizon has been Defeated" -Jack Johnson

the horizon has been defeated
by the pirates of the new age
alien casinos
well maybe it's just time to say
things can go bad
and make you want to run away
but as we grow older
the troubles just seems to stay

future complications
in the strings between the cans
but no prints can come from fingers
if machines become our hands
and then our feet become the wheels
and then the wheels become the cars
and then the rigs begin to drill
until the drilling goes too far

things can go bad
and make you want to run away
but as we grow older
the horizon begins to fade away

thingamajigsaw puzzled
anger, don't you step too close
because people are lonely and only
animals with fancy shoes
hallelujah zig zag nothing
misery, it's on the loose
because people are lonely and only
animals with too many tools
that can build all the junk that we sell
sometimes it makes you want to yell

things can go bad
and make you want to run away
but as we grow older
the horizon begins to fade away
fade, fade, fade
