Results are in, Bush won, Kerry conceded. I know everyone's had their say in this, but I figured I should record my say for personal future reference. And posterity or some shit.

Basically, I voted for Kerry. He barely lost the electoral vote, but also lost the popular vote, so I can't go complain lots like 2000. I blame the hick nation that lives smack dab in the middle of ours (and in the south). As a certain someone gently put it, we can't blame them for being "less developed." Haha.

It was still such a close race, but in the end, Kerry probably lost because of "faith-based moral values." Which is bullshit to me. We are supposed to have a separation of church and state...um yes, pretty funny. If you want to get personal, let's talk about regular moral values. Kerry may have divorced and remarried, but at least he has healthy, intelligent offspring. Bush's parenting skills? Oh yes, those raised some substance-abusing drunk drivers. But they're hot, so it's okay.

Yet what this all comes down to for me is that Bush is an Idiot. Yes, capital I. Forgive me if I don't care to entrust my nation to an Idiot. "The Twin Towers have been struck by a terrorist attack? Let me sit here longer with the children and look like more of a dumbass. Great plan!" Oh wait, what actually went through his head was probably more along the lines of "Der...."

It just scares me that our country will be led for another four years by the Idiot and a GOP majority House and Senate. I'm scared about the Justices they will be allowed to appoint: indefinite terms and possible ability to overturn Roe vs Wade. I'm scared about Republican Senators like Jim DeMint who express goals of banning homosexuals and single unwed mothers from teaching in public schools.

So here's my song dedication going out to America under the Bush administration: "America, Fuck Yeah" by Trey Parker. Though the Idiot probably wouldn't get it, and think it would be a great song if they only took out the swearing.

Below are a few highlighted pictures from...this summer until now. Yes, I've been very bad about updating. My apologies.

Right now, I'm being so lazy that I'm eating cheesecake from Saran wrap so I don't have to wash another fork. Yeung and I baked the cheesecake from scratch :D Okay, so we didn't exactly make the cream cheese, but you know what I mean. I am very proud of my recent culinary accomplishments: chicken marsala, cheesecake, and chocolate chip cookies from scratch. Yum!

Amanda: WHAT??
Amanda: you made CHEESECAKE?? what is this??
Amanda: what have you done with my sister?!

I'm trying not to be offended each time someone exclaims in disbelief over my cooking. Hey, I can cook from a recipe, okay?? 100% survival rate so far too. So hah!

In other news, Yeung and I have been together for over two months now. Yes, he has broken my record for longest relationship ever! I know, I know, what an incredibly difficult record to defeat. Hahaha. Thanks for proving that I'm not completely hopeless :)

I suppose I haven't felt much urge to write here in a while since my life is rather pleasant right now. And we all know conflict is the spice in our lives.

These days, everyone feels like nothing is worth having if there were no obstacles to overcome, no conflict. What makes a good story? Exposition, conflict, buildup, climax, then conclusion. No one will pay to hear a story about two people meeting, going out on pleasant but uneventful dates, getting married, and then having 2.5 children. BORING. People want to read or watch chance meetings, external meddling, love triangles, forbidden love.

This obviously translates to reality too. So many people are turned off when when a prospective significant other is too adoring, too easy, too available. We love making life difficult for ourselves.

But what about two people who are naturally drawn together and become happy without much difficulty? Shouldn't that be the stuff of dreams, the romantic ideal?

Oh wait, that's just SO cheesy. Welcome to our cynical world. :)
